Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy (or “therapy” or “counseling”) is a way to help you shift and change what is not working for you in yourself and in your life. Therapy can help you learn about your self and your feelings and learn how to manage those feelings. You can make connections between your feelings and your thoughts and behaviors and make healthy changes in those patterns. You can understand how your past influences the present. You can begin to heal from the past wounds you experienced.
Therapy is not easy. It can be hard to acknowledge the pain, the discomfort, those feelings. (Ugh!) It can be even more difficult to let that pain come out from its hiding places. It can be difficult to be vulnerable and to share those thoughts and feelings, those worries, those experiences. Being in therapy means you have someone to walk with you through that process, to guide you, and to “hold space” for you when it seems overwhelming and unmanageable. But, oh, it is so worth it in the end! To be able to be true to yourself, to be free (or at least less tangled) from all those cords that bind you and hold you back! To be able to relax and be happy. To live!
I love helping people find their way to inner healing and happier, healthier selves! I specialize in working with adults who experience anxiety and/or depression, who have experienced trauma and/or who experience health challenges, including chronic health, chronic pain, weight management, or terminal illnesses. I use "talk" therapy as well as hypnotherapy, depending on what you want and need.
Clinical Hypnotherapy/Hypnosis
Hypnotherapy is a way of accessing and changing our beliefs and behaviors hidden away from our conscious thought. We may be aware of these things, but talking about them doesn’t change them (or doesn’t change them as quickly as we would like it to.) I describe hypnotherapy as relaxation with a specific purpose. The purpose of each hypnotherapy session depends on the goals of the client.
I offer hypnotherapy as part of my psychotherapy practice, or as a “stand-alone” service. Hypnotherapy can help with many many different issues; some of the common issues I encounter in my practice are:
Anxiety
Depression
Weight management
Self-esteem/self-worth
Motivation
Fear or phobias
Reducing trauma responses
Chronic or acute pain
Smoking cessation
Psychological Assessment
I do not offer psychological assessments at this time.
Hypnotherapy Recordings
I will be offering hypnotherapy recordings for a small fee to the general public. Stay tuned!
